New drop-off zone for Belfast International

Visitors to Belfast will be able benefit from a new drop-off and pick-up zone at Belfast International.

The system will be implemented from Wednesday July 7th and it is intended to improve traffic flow.

It comes after the government introduced guidelines that said distance between vehicle zones and the terminal building had to be increased.

The airport stated: "[It] will provide additional space for people to unload luggage from their vehicle in safety and comfort."

As well as this, the new area has two lanes with four rows of spaces, while it is also double the kerb length of the previous set-down facility in order to help those with mobility problems.

According to a recent Which? survey, the hub - which carried 5.2 million passengers and 48,000 tonnes of cargo in 2008 - is one of the most competitively priced in the UK in terms of the price of parking.
