Royal Navy vessels coming to Belfast

Individuals looking to enjoy the maritime weekend going on in Belfast will get the chance to see a Royal Navy warship.

HMS Monmouth is spending three days in the city and the move has been welcomed by the new mayor of the city, Pat Convery, the Belfast Telegraph reports.

Another vessel, HMS Duncan, will also be coming to the region and it will be calling into the port on a number of occasions.

"The formal link with HMS Duncan will allow Belfast a platform to promote the city at home and abroad," Mr Convery added.

Rear Admiral Martin Alabaster told the news provider the place is a "progressive, vibrant and modern city [that] is steeped in maritime history".

He remarked the link-up will be beneficial for both parties.

Titanic Made in Belfast and the Belfast Titanic Maritime Festival are also both returning to the city, which will give people the opportunity to learn more about the famous ship.
