Belfast market features in list of the best

Belfast's St George's Market has been named as one of the best in the UK.

The Guardian published a list of the top ten markets in the country, with the East Bridge Street site the only one to be chosen that is not in England.

Different tastes are catered to on different days, the news source noted, with Friday perfect for those seeking good fish, traditional vegetables and the occasional antique.

Saturdays, meanwhile, see American cookie manufacturers and chocolatiers offer their wares alongside local cheese makers.

Describing St George's Market, the publication said: "This is as much for entertainment as your five-a-day. Musicians serenade you around the Victorian market hall and you may catch a fashion show or food festival."
