Belfast City Airport cuts queues by half

Those going on holiday to Belfast may be pleased to hear that Belfast City Airport has managed to cut its queues for those going through security by half.

New equipment and more search channels have been implemented as part of the £6 million refurbishment project, which was announced in September.

At that time, chief executive Brian Ambrose said that travellers would be able to enjoy a 60 per cent increase in shopping opportunities, as well as new drop-off and collection points, once the work is finished.

Regarding the more recent measures, head of security at the airport Stephen Moreland noted that the organisation has "invested heavily" in order to enhance customer experiences.

"No-one likes queuing," he said.

Under these plans, four further archways have been brought in, as has the latest technology in screening, which should see the alarm rate of harmless baggage reduced.
