Belfast's Crown Liquor Saloon "a national treasure"

One of Belfast's pubs, the Crown Liquor Saloon, has been described by the Daily Telegraph's Belfast Pub Guide as "a national treasure" that comes complete with an intricate interior of Victorian splendour.

According to the news source, the bar has many "eye-catching marvels" that include wooden booths dating back to the Victorian era, detailed with carved heads of griffins and lions.

Stained glass windows, mirrors and summoning bells can also be spotted while taking in a meal at the public house.

Of the atmosphere, the publication noted that there hangs in the air a "cheery bonhomie that, unlike many a mainland establishment, does not exclude the stranger".

And those wishing to sample local ales are also in luck as the pub offers three - Belfast, Crown and Glory and Copperhead.
