Diversions expected in Belfast

Diversions are to be expected in Belfast over the coming week as a section of its roads have been closed.

Part of Cromac Street between East Bridge and May streets is likely to be inaccessible for traffic until the coming weekend, which could lead to considerable congestion and drivers have been advised to avoid this stretch of road, the Belfast Telegraph reports.

Diversions have been implemented - which are signposted - and those coming towards the city centre from east Belfast may find it easier to cross the Lagan via the Queen's Bridge.

Those attempting to get into the city on the Ormeau Road have been recommended to take an alternative route as the signed diversion between Ormeau Avenue, Howard Street and Bedford Street could possibly be congested.

These traffic difficulties have arisen due to the movement of an underground bubble of air that caused the tarmac on Cromac Street to collapse, leaving a hole which may grow to 15sq metres.ADNFCR-1390-ID-19451663-ADNFCR
