Belfast City Hall grounds to close

The grounds of Belfast City Hall are to be closed to the public for nine days in order to make way for the upcoming Christmas markets.

Between November 9th and 17th, the gates will be shut, although visitors can still access the hall via the entrance on Donegall Square South.

Although there is to be no official commemorative celebration held on November 11th, those wishing to mark Armistice Day will be able to do so in the Cenotaph and Garden of Remembrance during the morning.

The city's Christmas Continental Market is due to be opened on the 17th, from 10:00 GMT. The last day for shoppers to take advantage of produce found across Europe for their family Christmas presents will be December 19th.

Although many favourite stalls from previous years will be returning, several new ones are also to be included, such as a few featuring a range of arts and crafts, as well as Delft china.ADNFCR-1390-ID-19447174-ADNFCR
