Free bags for Belfast City passengers

Passengers walking through Belfast City airport are now being provided with clear plastic bags in order to take liquids through security checkpoints.

Belfast City is the first airport in Northern Ireland to take the step, helping travellers to meet the requirements that are in place for carrying liquids on to flights.

The decision comes as part of a £6 million scheme to improve customer service at the airport, including upgrades to the passenger terminal that are due to take place in early 2010.

Airport chief executive Brian Ambrose recently said: "The passenger is central to all our decision making."

He added that the improvements aim to create a hassle-free experience for people passing through the terminal.

For now, passengers can benefit from free resealable bags into which they can place containers of up to 100 ml of liquids.

The Belfast City-branded plastic bags are available to passengers as they approach the security checks, removing the need for them to buy resealable bags of their own ahead of their journey.ADNFCR-1390-ID-19446084-ADNFCR
