Ulster museum reopens

Belfast's Ulster Museum has been made available to the public once more following a two-year refurbishment of the building's interior - which cost £17 million.

Those visiting the area can now benefit from an extra square kilometre of space, as well as improved access and a new restaurant overlooking the gardens, all part of the project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Department of Culture Arts and Leisure and various trusts and foundations, 4NI reports.

Now divided into three separate zones - art, history and nature - the museum is more interactive and includes an exhibition about Irish-born artist Sean Scully, who is of international renown.

The gallery was officially reopened yesterday (October 22nd), with three musicians playing a composition specially written for the occasion.

Belfast recently swung wide the doors of its renovated City Hall, celebrating with a two-week long programme of events, which began on October 17th. The Lord Mayor, councillor Naomi Long, noted that the party is to reflect the ethos of the town, welcoming locals and tourists alike.
