£6m to be spent on Belfast City improvements

Belfast City airport is to undergo a £6 million pound refurbishment of its facilities to keep up with consumer demand as an increasing number of people are spending more time in the terminal prior to boarding their flights, the airport's chief executive has said.

Brian Ambrose remarked that passengers will be offered "a greater choice airside", with a 60 per cent increase in shopping opportunities, new drop-off and collection points outside and an increased capacity at security search.

"The passenger is central to all our decision making. We want their experience of Belfast City to be hassle-free and memorable for all the right reasons," he commented.

Airbus A380, the world's largest commercial airplane, which can seat 525 people, recently visited Northern Ireland for the first time - flying over Belfast City on September 5th, as well as taking part in a flying display at the Northern Ireland International Airshow at Portrush.ADNFCR-1390-ID-19359912-ADNFCR
