New art project comes to Belfast

A new artistic endeavour is coming to the city of Belfast at the end of August.

Draw Down the Walls will be starting on August 28th and will use Belfast's famous - and controversial - interface walls as the arena for a series of workshops and art events as well as an exhibition stand for a range of artworks.

August's project marks the end of three years of work by the Golden Thread Gallery and the North Belfast Interface Network and is designed to stimulate debate and discussion about the walls and the communities that exist in the area.

Aside from this initiative, the Belfast Interface Project also promotes awareness of the interface - or peaceline - areas of the city and aims to bring about regeneration of the region.

The group was established in 1995 and has embarked on several ventures in order to promote better relationships within the city, including the Conflict Transformation Support Project.
