Road resurfacing could affect routes to airport

A roads service plan which will take place in August may affect journey times and routes for travellers heading into Belfast City.

From August 3rd to August 30th road improvements and resurfacing will be taking place in the Tillysburn Roundabout area of the city, involving nightly closures of the Sydenham Bypass and other roads nearby for the first week.

The road works will be occurring regularly during that period from 19:30 BST to 06:00 BST, until towards the end of the month when they will be making changes between 03:00 BST and 12:00 BST on Sundays only.

Various diversions will be set in place in order to best direct the flow of traffic into the airport, primarily along the Old Holywood and the Belmont roads.

On August 7th, there will be no right turn available into the airport. Drivers will need to approach from the west, down Dalton Street.

An exception to the restructuring has been made for August 16th, when the Tall Ships Festival is taking place and 400,000 people are expected to converge on Belfast Harbour to watch the last leg of the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge.ADNFCR-1390-ID-19292119-ADNFCR
