'Summer bonanza' at Belfast airport

Belfast International Airport is expecting a 'bonanza' of customers over the summer period.

The airport is predicting that more than 1.5 million travellers will travel through it in the next three months.

John Doran, managing director of the hub, explained that the recession has not put people off travelling to and from Belfast.

"Despite the economic gloom it's clear our customers are determined to have a summer holiday and our airlines are seeing a surge in late bookings as canny travellers seek good deals," he said.

"The strength of competition here between the airlines ensures the Northern Ireland traveller gets a good deal. We're looking forward to a busy summer."

Advance car parking has been advised by the airport in order to pick up the best deals, while new systems for hand baggage and security have also been installed in order to customer relations.
