Belfast restaurant wins top award

A restaurant in Belfast has been named as the best place to eat out in Northern Ireland.

Mourne Seafood Bar in the centre of the city was voted by readers of the Good Food Guide as the restaurant of the year.

More than 20,000 people voted in the annual poll, which was won by the Bay Tree restaurant last year.

A wide range of seafood at competitive prices and an unpretentious attitude towards food and drink helped Mourne Seafood Bar scoop the top prize in 2009.

Elizabeth Carter, editor of The Good Food Guide, told the Belfast Telegraph: "All the restaurants that made it on to this year's shortlist should be proud of the show of support received from their customers.

"Mourne Seafood Bar is a great seafooder, with a blackboard menu and all shellfish sourced from the restaurant's own shellfish beds."

A national final between ten regional winners will now be held, with the overall champion being announced at the British Museum on June 9th.ADNFCR-1390-ID-19182752-ADNFCR
