Belfast seen as gateway to US

Belfast International Airport is gaining a reputation as a gateway to the US thanks to a dedicated service from Continental Airlines.

The airline is running a transatlantic service from Belfast to New York that is proving extremely popular.

Once people arrive in the Big Apple, both business and leisure passengers are going on to other destinations in the US and beyond.

On the other hand, many more people will be discovering the attractions Belfast has to offer as they head to the airport for their US-bound flights.

Uel Hoey, business development director at Belfast International Airport, said,: "Continental's service provides direct access, not only to New York City, but right across the USA, Canada and Latin America.

"It also opens up Northern Ireland to those who want to explore the region and can use Belfast International as the gateway."
