Aer Lingus has surpassed the targets it set itself for its first year at Belfast International Airport.The airline has taken more than three quarters of a million bookings in its first year of operations in Belfast, which is 50 per cent more than the target figure it set itself.
It also aimed to carry 500,000 passengers in the first 12 months, but managed to carry 600,000.
Dermot Mannion, chief executive of Aer Lingus, said that the move to Belfast "has been and remains a success".
"Belfast's success is clear to see and the support from the Northern Ireland public, those living in border counties and businesses, has been simply fantastic. We're here and we're here to stay, despite what some might have you think or hope for."
The airline started operating from Belfast exactly a year ago today and has since created 100 jobs in the city and at the airport.
