Tourist book launched in Belfast

The prominence of tourist accommodation in Northern Ireland has seen a new tourist guide launched in Belfast.

Tourism Minister Arlene Foster was on hand yesterday at the Belfast Harbour Commissioner's Office to launch the Blue Book, a guide to luxury tourist accommodation located in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

However, people flying in to Belfast and looking to treat themselves to a lavish stay will be pleased to find six of the lauded accommodations are in the local area.

Belle Isle Castle, the Ardtara Country House, Glasdrumman Lodge, the Merchant Hotel, Bushmills Inn and Newforge Country House are all included in the guide, which is celebrating its 35th edition.

Ms Foster stated: "Tourism in Northern Ireland has experienced huge growth over the past decade, with record visitor numbers and visitor spend.

"The Blue Book shows the quality that exists in Northern Ireland and I am pleased that six unique properties are included in the 2009 edition, chosen for their strong individualistic style and character."
