Legendary cricketer to visit Belfast

Sports fans will be flocking to see a true legend of cricket visit Belfast next month, after Courtney Walsh confirmed he is heading to the city.

The former West Indian fast bowler is flying in to Belfast on November 4th and will lead a session with promising young players from the Belfast Royal Academical Institution the following morning.

Despite his fearsome reputation as a fiery character on the field, Walsh is known in the game as a friendly figure and will be promoting links between Northern Ireland and his homeland of Jamaica.

Last year, thousands of people left Belfast to go to the cricket world cup in Jamaica and next year Ireland may tour the West Indies.

The Twenty20 world cup takes place in England next year and thousands of people from Ireland are expected to make the short journey to support their side in the tournament.
