QE2 sails into Belfast

The QE2, one of the world's most famous cruise liners, is set to come to the Port of Belfast on a special visit.

It will form part of her farewell tour, giving people flying in to Belfast one of the last opportunities to catch a glimpse of the vessel.

Public viewing points include Hazelbank Park and Jordanstown Loughshore Park, with a special gallery also being set up to accommodate up to 1,200 people just across the river from where the QE2 will dock.

Tickets will be available free of charge, but people are advised to book in advance as the hourly slots are expected to be extremely popular.

Few locations in the British Isles are being visited by the QE2 on her year-long farewell tour, with permanent retirement in Dubai imminent for the ship.

Formerly the flagship of the Cunard Line, it is set to become a floating hotel in Dubai, with a branch of Harrods as well as swimming pools, cinemas and a casino already on board.
