An airline is celebrating reaching a milestone, having been operating in Belfast for ten years.EasyJet began running its first route from Belfast International Airport in 1998 and now a total of 21 European and domestic destinations from Belfast are catered for by the firm.
Andy Harrison, the company's chief executive, led the celebrations this morning, highlighting the boost in tourism in Northern Ireland EasyJet's success has triggered.
"We have brought millions of visitors to the region and have provided employment both directly and indirectly for more than 20,000 people," he told RTE News.
However, the Luton-based firm is expecting a difficult winter, but is sure there will still be plenty of visitors to Belfast.
A spokesman commented: "Whilst we expect industry capacity reductions over the winter to be in the region of two per cent to four per cent, it remains a volatile market and too early to anticipate the impact on yield of the capacity changes."
