'Lost art' found in Belfast

A collection of valuable art that was lost for two decades has been found in Belfast and put on display.

The 19 "lost Antrim coast series" paintings by Richard Croft have been found in his attic by Brian Kennedy, an expert researching the artist.

When Mr Croft, a former Royal Ulster Academy president, moved from Belfast to Dundrum, he left the collection and it had since been presumed that it had been sold to a private collector.

However, it will now be on display at Belfast city centre gallery, James Wray & Co until September 23rd.

Mr Croft admitted he "couldn't believe" the find, while James Wray & Co gallery partner Alan Wray was extremely excited about the exhibition and expected interest "not just from Ireland but further afield".

"To have Richard Croft's never before seen north coast series on display to inspire a whole new generation of Irish art lovers is great news for the Irish arts' world," he said. ADNFCR-1390-ID-18783927-ADNFCR
