Sex and the City artist returns to Belfast

An artist who takes the hit show Sex and the City as her chief inspiration is to return to Belfast for the first time in five years with a new exhibition.

Northern Ireland native Mandie Magowan, from Lurgan, has not presented any of her work in her homeland since 2003 but is now set to exhibit new paintings.

Her cult popularity in the US, where Sex and the City is based, has meant trips back home have been difficult to arrange, but Ms Magowan is delighted to be returning.

"I am delighted to be finally exhibiting back in Northern Ireland and am so pleased that this show is being premiered here in Belfast," she said.

Quantum Images is staging the exhibition, with Paul Hanna of the Irish art firm calling the event "a must see".

"With over half of the collection already pre-sold, it promises to be one of the headline events on the Belfast arts and social scene," he stated.

Interest in Sex and the City surged again last year after a film version of the TV show was released in cinemas. ADNFCR-1390-ID-18779362-ADNFCR
