A new investment is set to rejuvenate the Belfast digital media industry, with new entertainment shows planned to be filmed in the capital.Be Entertainment has set up base in Belfast as part of a quarter of a million pound development, with funding from Northern Ireland Screen and Invest Northern Ireland.
The firm has previously produced programmes such as Aisling's Diary and the internet-based show Sofia's Diary, which became the first online drama to crossover to television.
Donal Durkan, director of life sciences and creative at Invest Northern Ireland stated: "Cross media and trans media formats are becoming more and more commercially successful at an international level.
"We see companies such as Be Entertainment locating in Belfast as proof that we are building strong creative clusters and a healthy digital media industry."
New projects in the pipeline include a series called Flatmates, with people expected to visit Belfast to check out the locations of shows they become fans of.
