The house that football legend George Best grew up in is up for sale, with fans of the Belfast-born star bidding huge sums of money to purchase the property.Best lived in the terraced home in east Belfast, which belonged to his recently-deceased father, as a child and would often fly back to Belfast to visit, Belfast Today reports.
Though valued at £165,000, people have bid far more than this as they seek to get their hands on a part of Belfast's sporting heritage, with estate agent Templeton Robinson admitting there has been "a great deal of interest" in a property described as "a piece of Northern Irish history".
A spokesman commented: "Some offers we had came from people wanting to make an investment in an east Belfast property, but the main ones came from fans of the late George Best."
More than ten people have viewed the property since it came onto the market at the end of last month, with Best's appeal defying the property sales slump.
In an illustrious career, Best won the European Cup with Manchester United and also the European Player of the Year Award.
