Aer Lingus has revealed that it has now taken half a million bookings for flights from Belfast International Airport.In just one year, 500,000 people have been flown from the Irish capital by the airline.
The news is a double celebration for the firm, which is currently enjoying its first anniversary of opening a base in Belfast; it's first outside the Republic of Ireland.
Enda Corneille, Aer Lingus' corporate affairs director, commented: "We're delighted to have reached the half a million mark and growth continues to be in line with our expectations.
"The support from the travelling public in Northern Ireland has been fantastic, and with a growing selection of routes on offer to popular sunshine and city break destinations, we hope to build on this success in the months ahead."
Routes to destinations including Lanzarote, Milan and Munich have been announced for the company's winter schedule, with a total of 11 routes now operating.
Other popular flights from Belfast for the airline include a service to Heathrow and trips to cultural centres Paris and Rome.
