Hollywood stars touch down in Belfast

Belfast is fast becoming a prime location for Hollywood film productions, with a Harry Potter star the latest actor to begin working on a movie in Northern Ireland.

Cherrybomb has begun filming in north Belfast, with Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, among the cast.

Also involved in the coming-of-age drama is Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging leading lady Kimberley Nixon, as well as local talent including James Nesbitt.

Grint was keen to express his affection for Belfast and he can understand why so many people are choosing to fly into the capital.

"We haven't has a lot of time off, but we have seen quite a bit of Northern Ireland and I have really enjoyed it," he told the Belfast Telegraph.

"I particularly loved the Giant's Causeway and the [Carrick-a-Rede] rope bridge. Everyone has had a real laugh on set and they have been a great crew to work with."

Belfast's film industry has boomed over the last decade, with the Belfast Film Festival running its eighth annual event earlier this year. ADNFCR-1390-ID-18713876-ADNFCR
