Redevelopment planned for Belfast Port

Belfast Port could double in capacity if a new £630 million investment plan gets the go-ahead.

Northern Ireland's largest port is a big attraction for tourists flying into Belfast thanks to its rich, 395-year-long history.

A number of modern developments have also added to the appeal of the port, which is most famous for being the place the Titanic was built.

Now, the SS Nomadic, the Titanic's tender ship, is to return to a refurbished Hamilton Graving Dock as part of Belfast's Titanic Quarter, where it was constructed in 1911.

The Port of Belfast's CEO Roy Adair commented: "It's very fitting therefore that the Port is helping to refurbish the dock to celebrate both the Nomadic's and Belfast's Titanic heritage as part of our co-promotion of Titanic Quarter."

There are now over 92,000 people working in businesses in and around the harbour, with 17,000 working for the Harbour Estate, which has become a centre of industry in the capital.ADNFCR-1390-ID-18706144-ADNFCR
