Belfast City airport proves a valuable asset

George Best Belfast City Airport has been valued at an estimated £150 million, reports reveal.

Chief executive Brian Ambrose recently announced that Belfast City airport's owners, Spanish construction firm Ferrovial, were considering whether or not to sell it.

He said: "Grupo Ferrovial SA, which is the 100 per cent owner of BCA, is now considering strategic alternatives with respect to its shareholding which may ultimately result in a sale of its interests. This process is expected to take a number of months before any final decision is reached.

"Grupo Ferrovial SA remains very happy with the ongoing performance of the BCA. The possibility of a sale does not affect the day-to-day business of the airport."

Named after local football legend the late George Best, Belfast City airport has undergone significant expansion in recent years, servicing flights throughout the UK and Europe.

Low-cost airlines such as Ryanair and Flybe now provide flights in and out of the Northern Ireland capital. ADNFCR-1390-ID-18616595-ADNFCR
