Coming of age film shot in Belfast

Belfast will play host to the filming of a new movie by UK production company Generator Entertainment, according to reports.

Cherry Bomb follows the story of two best friends who compete for the affections of a troubled beauty in a coming of age drama.

Generator's second film, Cherry Bomb will be the directorial debut of Glen Leyburn and Lisa Barros d'Sa with the screenplay written by Daragh Carville.

Michael Casey's Green Park Films developed the project with Brian Kirk, and James Flynn's Dublin-based Octagon Films

"We are delighted to be working with Michael Casey of Green Park on this fresh and exciting film," said Simon Bosanquet of Generator Entertainment.

"We're very impressed with Daragh Carville's Belfast-set script which gives a cool, contemporary twist to the buddy-movie tradition, set squarely against the backdrop of a city in the process of rebuilding its identity."
