Belfast International gets three new air routes

Belfast International Airport has three new routes, as Aer Lingus announces new services to Munich, Milan and Lanzarote.

The new destinations, which will see visitors coming into Belfast as well as holidaymakers travelling out, brings the total number of direct scheduled international destinations to 34.

John Doran, the airport's managing director, said: "We are pleased to further enhance Northern Ireland's economic potential.

"The addition of Italy's second and Germany's third cities to the extensive international route network from Belfast International Airport signifies more landmark progress and adds further substance to the Aer Lingus' route network from this region."

This year some six million passengers are expected to use Belfast International Airport, and more new routes are likely to be added over the coming six months.

Belfast has become well established as a city break destination, with visitors flying in from airports all around the UK including London Heathrow, Edinburgh and Bristol.
