New terminal will see more flights to Belfast

Large numbers of tourist are expected to jet into Belfast now that the new Terminal Five building at London Heathrow has been opened.

The Queen officially unveiled the massive London travel hub today which she called a "21st century gateway to Britain".

However, it looks set to also be a popular gateway to Belfast as the city is one of just four destinations in the UK which flights from the terminal will travel to.

Passengers flying from Terminal Five will also be able to travel to international destinations – although it is exclusively open to British Airways customers.

BAA chairman Sir Nigel said: "Terminal Five marks the start of a new beginning for Heathrow, for BAA and for our millions of passengers.

"It is by any standard a triumph of ambition, commitment and collaboration. It will breathe new life into Heathrow and put it back where it really belongs - at the leading edge of global travel."

The terminal will be open to passengers from March 27th, thousands of which will be flying from London to Belfast each month. ADNFCR-1390-ID-18510245-ADNFCR
