Flights begin between Belfast and Las Vegas

New flights have been launched by Thomas Cook between Belfast and Las Vegas.

Direct flights between the entertainment capital of the world and Belfast International Airport begin on March 12th, taking around ten hours.

After the March flight, a weekly service will be operated between June 29th and July 20th, with Thomas Cook predicting that the flights will be introduced as part of the summer 2009 programme.

"We constantly strive to offer variety and convenience to our customers," said Thomas Cook Airline's managing director Frank Pullman.

"The introduction of the Belfast to Las Vegas route this year will enable us to review whether there is a demand for direct flights to this part of the US."

An A330 plane will be used for the route, featuring a seat pitch of 33 inches for more legroom, as well as seat-back TVs.

Located in the Nevada desert, Las Vegas is a popular destination for gambling, shopping and entertainment.
