Ruby Wax returns for FATE Awards

Ruby Wax is set to return to Belfast to host the FATE awards for the second successive year.

The 2009 FATE Awards will take place on April 3rd at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast and there will also be three new categories being judged.

Pubs, clubs and restaurants outside of Belfast will all be given their own categories at the entertainment event, which organiser Michael Bell has explained will have an '80s theme, the Belfast newsletter reports.

"I'm absolutely delighted to welcome Ruby back to Belfast. She's one of a kind and had everyone in stitches last year," he told the website.

"Every year we've always had a very strong stylistic theme and the decadence of the '80s suits FATE. In the current economic climate it's the perfect antidote. I think Northern Ireland needs a good party."

Celebrities including James Nesbitt and Christine Bleakley are expected to be in attendance, along with judges such as TV chef Paul Rankin.
