Band are Keane to come to Belfast

Keane, the award-winning band, not the controversial football manager, have chosen Belfast to host the opening night of their 2009 UK arena tour.

Fans of the group can kick-start their new year with a trip to Belfast to see them perfom at the Odyssey Arena on January 23rd.

A new album, Perfect Symmetry, is scheduled to be released in Northern Ireland on October 10th, so people will have plenty of time to learn the lyrics to the latest tracks before the gig.

Tickets will be available to see the three-piece from this Saturday and cost £30.50.

In a poll earlier this year, Q magazine readers voted Keane's previous two albums, Under the Iron Sea and Hopes and Fears, into the Top 20 Best British Albums of all time.

Meanwhile, two other bands heading for Belfast, Coldplay and Kings of Leon, are currently locked in a battle to have the year's fastest-selling album, with the latter's new release Only By The Night gaining on Coldplay's Viva La Vida.
